Fees and engagement
Three fee bases. You choose before work begins.
We propose the basis that suits the matter and confirm it in the engagement letter. You will not receive an invoice for work you did not agree to.
Basis 01
Fixed fee
Used where the scope can be defined in advance — a document set, a settlement agreement, an initial merits assessment. The figure is quoted after the consultation and does not move unless you change the scope.
Basis 02
Hourly with a ceiling
Used for negotiation and disputes, where the other side dictates part of the workload. We agree an estimate and a ceiling, and we come back to you before approaching it rather than after passing it.
Basis 03
Staged retainer
Used for transactions and ongoing advisory support. Work is divided into stages with its own estimate, so you can pause, re-scope or stop at any stage boundary.
Every engagement letter states the fee basis, what is included, what is excluded, who will do the work and how disbursements are handled. Ask for it before you instruct us — we would rather answer questions about cost early than explain an invoice late.
